General Voice-Over Rates
Back to: Voice Talent Website and Demos
Step 1. Find Out the Details of the Recording
1. Type of Recording. Find out if the recording will be for radio or TV, a movie trailer, business, an audiobook, a documentary, a videogame, an on hold messages, an interactive voice response system, etc.
2. Length. There are two ways to do this:3. Reach. If the recording is for radio, TV you will need to know the reach the recording will have. It could be national, regional, or local. If the recording is not for radio or TV is considered non-broadcast.
- Time basis: Based on the actual time the recording will be (e.g. 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 20 minutes, 1 hour and so on)
- Word basis (paging): Based on the number of words or pages the script has. One page contains 250 words in average (Arial 12 pt double spacing).
Step 2. Locate the Proper Price in the Price Matrix
The following chart presents a list of different voice over projects and a price range for specific criteria of each project. The prices are presented as a range because not all projects of the same type are equal, so you have flexibility to set your own price depending on the project specifications.
Keep in mind that this is only a guide and is aimed to be used as a reference. Final rates can be more o less than these prices.
Voice seekers can also use this rate guide to set their budget, so try to set your price quotes so that you get the best deal with the voice seeker.
Please note the following:
